What is WVU+kc?
The WVU Kuali Coeus (WVU+kc) is a new electronic research administration, web-based application that is being used by West Virginia University for research compliance, administration of externally-funded awards, and electronic funding notifications. It is currently being developed to handle grant proposal submissions as well as a variety of other research administration tasks specific to the WVU research community.
The WVU+kc system has already replaced several existing paper and legacy applications previously-used at WVU. The WVU+kc project team is continuing to build a comprehensive system that will manage the complexities of research administration at the university, fully addressing the needs of the faculty researcher, grants administration staff, and federal funding agencies.
What’s New with WVU+kc?
Information Technology Services appreciates your patience with this weekend's outage of the WVU+kc research administration system. To see a complete list of enhancements implemented, see the 22.214.171.124 Minor Release Notes.
WVU+kc will be down for maintenance this Sunday, January 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
WVU+kc will be down from 5 to 6 p.m. today (Friday, Dec. 19) for emergency maintenance.
WVU researchers and staff should begin using MyID usernames and passwords when accessing Collaborative institutional Training Initiative (CITI). Using your MyID will ensure that all training sessions completed are linked to the same account. Instructions on how to request to merge an old CITI account with your MyID account can be found on CITI's website. Technical issues should be reported to ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444 or ITSHelp@mail.wvu.edu.

GOOD NEWS: WVU+kc is now back in service. We appreciate your patience as we recovered from the brief overnight power outage!
MyAccess, WVU+kc, MyID & wifi affected by overnight power outage
The Information Technology Services Datacenter experienced a power outage that lasted several minutes early Saturday morning, around 12:15 a.m. The datacenter houses many mission-critical applications at WVU. ITS staff have worked through the night and were able to restore service to most applications by 6 a.m.
MyAccess and WVU+KC (Kuali Coeus) remain offline, and users could still be experiencing issues with MyID until a database is back online. Some may also experience problems with access to campus Wi-Fi until some issues are resolved. Those problems may or may not be related to the outage.
eCampus is back in service. We will provide updates about the remaining systems as soon as possible.
The power outage occurred while workers were replacing hardware that guarantees an uninterrupted power supply to the Datacenter at One Waterfront Place. Many mission-critical applications are housed in the Datacenter.
The maintenance has been completed and no further problems are anticipated with the Uninterruptible Power Supply, or UPS. The UPS ensures there are no voltage spikes or dips in the 24/7 power supply to expensive and electrically sensitive equipment.
The UPS units at Waterfront had been discontinued equipment. They have not been manufactured since 2003, and replacement parts are no longer guaranteed. While the units have been very reliable, they had to be replaced now to ensure a robust and supportable datacenter for years to come.
Provide feedback and help us to identify future enhancements for the IRB Protocol and Award Initiation module by completing this short online survey. Thanks!
